I love looking at myself in fotos

so finally we arrive at machu piccu. it really is out of control. i will post some fotos for your viewing pleasure. i only hope they can give a little glimpse of how amazing the site is. It is very mystical and incredible and built on top of a mountain in the middle of nowhere. those incas were some crazy kats.

there were a bunch of llamas just roaming around. adam liked one guy in particular who just sat relaxing on the grass all day long.

we spent most of the morning walking around exploring on our own or listening to our tour guide kosmo.

after we checked out the scene we decided to take a walk. where to? adam will show you.

it was a long but not super steep height up to that point, called sun gate. here are some pics from the top. it was way higher and scarier than this foto makes it seem. definitely discovered a new found fear of heights. there were lots of people hugging the inside of the trail.

so machu was great. real great. we left the site that afternoon. i wish i had snapped a foto of this 7 year old local dressed like an inca who chased the bus down the side of the moutain. at every switchback he would be there waving. at the bottom of the mountain he got and the bus and sang "gooooooooooodbye. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaadios." among other things. strangest thing ever. i think i was in shock and could not snap a foto.

so when we left machu we arrived back in aguas calientes and boarded the bus back to cuzco. we had all the supplied we needed.

we spent that night in cuzco and then headed out on an early morning flight to lima. ugh. lima. since we didn't want to explore lima and there were still some aftershocks happnin' we tried to change our flight to leave that night. no luck. so we spent a few hours at the airport in lima since it is the nicest spot.

we decided to treat ourselves to a nice hostal in miraflores, the nicest section of lima. the hotel was great at first glance. computers. a TV! and a restaraunt right there!

and thus ends our foto tour of peru. this is because that seemingly wonderful hotel restaraunt was really satan's kitchen. adam and i decided to get some lunch there. mistake #1 as it was basically a meat grill place. there was nothing on the menu i could really eat so i randomly chose this creamy mushroom pasta. mistake #2. i dont even like creamy pasta! i ate like half of it. mistake #3. then i decided that was not a good idea. so i stopped. too late. later that night, while watching back to the future 2, i started feeling nauseaous. i didn't think much of it. but it got progressively worse. i tried to sleep but could only moan the whole night. in the early AM adam told me to try and puke. so i did. and there were the shrooms. ugh. puked all morning. we had to check out of the room but our flight wasn't until midnight. so i sat in the lobby and got up now and then to puke. adam and i sat on the same couch from noon until 8pm playing cards. i thought i was going to die. then we went to airport. i still thought i was going to die. i acted so "healthy" as i walked by the customs officials as all i wanted to do was get on that plane. i got on. adam fell asleep wearing his delta provided face mask. i puked. at one point i also spilled my entire gingerale in my lap. so i had to sit in a puddle the entire way to atlanta. misery. needless to say i survived. but it took a while to reintroduce the mushroom into my system. and i had smelly farts for like 2 weeks post. real smelly. and i'll never eat creamy pasta again.

so there is our trip to peru. hope you enjoyed. next vacation will be adam and i lying on a beach doing nothing. destination TBA.
